Procedure

  • Travel. Below we present you the different options on how to reach Urbino by different means. When we will open the registration procedure, we’ll include a section on your flight details. This will allow us to organize some shuttle busses from main nearby airports (and in case from main train stations). We strongly suggest you to take advantage of these busses and to register for them.
  • Accomodation. Every participant should take care of his/her own accommodation. Please consider the special agreements taken with the local hotels and the time limit provided for taking advantage of the special rates.

Travelling to Urbino
Urbino is not so easy to reach. It is located in the Marche region, on the Apennines, 30 km from Adriatic Sea. Urbino can be reached directly only by car or bus.
The closest towns to Urbino having a train station are Pesaro (30 km.) and Fano (40 km); it is possible to get there with trains from major cities like Milan, Bologna or Rome. Even though trains are particularly cheap, it takes time, so plan your trip carefully.
To reach Urbino we suggest you to fly to Bologna or Ancona, and then to Urbino with the shuttle busses  we will organize on the day before the conference starts.
The fastest option to reach Urbino, however, is surely to rent a car. Different rental companies have their offices in Ancona and Bologna airports and in Pesaro station. So, if you're not traveling alone, sharing a rented car could be a good (and even economic) option, which gives you a high degree of flexibility.
Below, we list a number of possible travel options. Choose the one which suites you most. Should you have questions, pls do not hesitate in contacting us at info@espanet2009.net

Conference theme

The Annual ESPAnet Conference 2009 focuses on the future of the welfare state. More precisely it will address paths of social policy innovation highlighting existing constraints, path dependencies and opportunities of social policy change. The conference provides a forum to address theoretical and methodological questions, to reflect on inter- and multi-disciplinarity in social policy research and to discuss new analytical trends. It will also deal with changing paradigms in the concept of the welfare state and in the actual configuration of social policy innovation in Europe and beyond. Shifts in underlying basic principles will also be addressed, ideas or objectives, and factors which might drive such changes and what directions they might indicate for the future of the welfare state.
